Frequently asked questions

Recording and uploads

How do I record a conversation?

Open a Ricord and choose Record. Your browser will ask for microphone access; allow it, speak, and press stop when you are done. The recording is uploaded and processed automatically.

Which file formats can I upload?

Audio and video files such as MP3, M4A, WAV, MP4 and MOV; images and screenshots such as PNG and JPG; and documents in PDF, DOCX, TXT, Markdown and CSV format. If a file does not upload, check that it is one of these types.

Is there a file size limit?

Yes, each uploaded file can be up to 500 MB. If your recording is larger, export it at a lower bitrate or as audio only, or split it into parts and add each part to the same Ricord.

Can I paste a screenshot instead of saving it as a file?

Yes. Copy a screenshot to your clipboard and paste it into a Ricord. Ricord will read all of the text in it and describe what the screenshot shows.

Is there a limit on recording length?

On the Free plan, recordings can be up to 30 minutes. Basic and Pro have no per-recording length cap, only a monthly allowance of audio hours.

Processing and accuracy

How long does processing take?

It depends on the length of the recording and how busy the system is. Short recordings usually finish within minutes. A Ricord with a 30-minute recording is typically ready in two to three minutes. You can leave the page and come back; the Ricord updates itself when it is ready.

How accurate are transcripts and summaries?

Accuracy is best with clear audio, one person speaking at a time and little background noise. AI can still make mistakes, mishear names or misattribute speakers, so please review important details. Every action item links back to its source so you can check it quickly.

Can Ricord tell who is speaking?

Yes. Transcripts include speaker labels and timestamps. When people say their names in the conversation, Ricord uses them as speaker labels and as action item owners.

Something looks wrong in my results. What can I do?

You can edit titles, summaries and action items directly. If processing failed or the output is clearly off, email support@ricord.ai with the Ricord's title and what you expected and we will take a look.

Action items and the board

How are action items created?

After processing, Ricord proposes detailed action items based on the audio, screenshots and documents in the Ricord. You can edit them, add your own, assign owners, set priority and due dates, add labels and checklists, and comment.

What do the keys like RIC-12 mean?

Each action item gets a short, unique key so you can refer to it in conversation and in other tools.

What are the Board and Backlog views?

The Board is a Kanban view with columns for Backlog, To do, In progress, In review and Done. The Backlog view lists items that are not scheduled yet. The List view shows everything in a sortable table. All views show the same underlying action items.

How do I see where an action item came from?

Open the action item and look at its evidence. It links to the quote and timestamp in the transcript, or to the screenshot or document it was taken from.

Account and billing

How do I sign in?

Use Google or your email address on the log in page. If you signed up with one method and cannot sign in with the other, use the method you originally used.

How do I upgrade to Basic or Pro?

Web checkout is in beta, so paid plans are activated by our team. Email sales@ricord.ai with the plan you want and the email address you sign in with.

How do I cancel or change my plan?

Email support@ricord.ai or sales@ricord.ai and we will change your plan. Your Ricords stay in your account.

Do the phone and desktop apps use the same account?

Yes. Sign in with the same account and your library appears everywhere.

Privacy and deletion

Who can see my Ricords?

Only you. Each account is isolated and files are served through signed links that expire. Ricord staff do not browse customer content, and only access it when you ask us for help or where the law requires.

Do you train AI on my data?

No. Your content is processed to produce your results and is not used to train AI models.

How do I delete a Ricord or my account?

Delete a Ricord from its menu to remove its recordings, screenshots, documents, transcript and action items. To delete your whole account and all of its data, open Settings → Account → Delete account. You can also email privacy@ricord.ai from your account email address.

Do I need consent to record people?

Often, yes. Laws about recording conversations vary by place, and you are responsible for getting consent from everyone you record where the law requires it.
